Our Micro soccer program is an entry level program and is made up of teams of boys and girls boys divided into two age groups – 3 and 4 year olds are one group and 5 and 6 year olds are in another group.
The season runs for approximately eight weeks from May to June (weather permitting). Games can be cancelled due to rain which will be decided by the coach.
The 3/4-year-old group is a totally Parent Participation Program with games held on Tuesday and Thursday nights. All games start at 6:00 p.m. with the first game on Thursday May 3, 2018. Chalmers has 2 teams this year, Chalmers Teddies and Chalmers Kubbies.
The 5/6-year-old group still consists of parent participation and games are held on Monday and Wednesday nights. All games start at 6:00 p.m. with the first game on Wednesday May 2, 2018. Chalmers has 3 teams this year, Chalmers Kats, Chalmers Tigers and Chalmers Lions.
Soccer contributes to the well-being of the children by engaging them in the sport and teaching them the basic movements. The objective is to get moving and keep active.
Soccer format will consist of 15 minutes of skills by the coach (parents are required to participate) and 20 – 25 minutes of game time. There will be a snack break and then another 20 minutes of game time. Usually lasts about one hour with coaches on the field for the entire game portion.
All children must wear shin pads with socks fully covering them. Cleats (rubber) are encouraged but not required. Full soccer uniform consisting of jersey, shorts and socks is provided by Tim Bits this year.
Of course, the success of the program is completely dependent on the participation of the parents/people who volunteer to be coaches, assistant coaches for your up and coming soccer players.
